The updated CED includes 8 themes,with the current theme of Culture and Society now divided into two separate themes: American and Regional Culture and Social Structures.

THEME 7:AMERICAN AND REGIONAL CULTURE (ARC)

This theme focuses on the how and why national, regional, and group cultures developed and changed as well as how culture has shaped government policy and the economy.

THEME 8:SOCIAL STRUCTURES (SOC)

This theme focuses on how and why systems of social organization develop and change as well as the impact that these systems have on the broader society.

2.考查技巧从原来的4个Reasoning Skills(Contextualization, Comparison , Causation, Continuity and Change OverTime)变成Historical Thinking Skills and Reasoning Processes。即把历史理性思考能力分成分析和处理两个方面，每块下面都罗列了具体的要求；

The framework in the updated CED now outlines more specific thinking skills and reasoning processes that AP U.S. History students should practice throughout the year—skills and processes that will help them learn to think and act like historians.
