一、Thesis statement示例及其与Opinion statement的区别

Opinion statement和Thesis statement之间的关键区别在于，Thesis向读者传达的信息是，所提出的观点已经经过彻底的探讨，并且可以通过证据进行辩护。回答了“what”的问题(what is the argument)，并且能够给读者一个关于“why”问题的线索(why is this argument the most persuasive)。

2、"The organizational structure of the United Nations, namely consensus voting in the security council, makes it incapable of preventing war between major powers."

二、Thesis statement内容提示

1、不是事实陈述。

事实陈述："A candidates ability to afford television advertising can have an impact on the outcome of Congressional elections." 这基本上是一个无可争议的观点，因此，不是一个论点。

同样，"The United Nations was established to promote diplomacy between major powers." 不太可能引发太多争论。

2、不只是观点陈述。

观点陈述："Congressional elections are simply the result of who has the most money." 这种说法确实是一种主张，但在这种形式下，更多的是一种观点，而不是一个论点。

同样，"The United Nations is incapable of preventing war" 与上述事实陈述相比，更倾向于Thesis statement，因为提出了一个有争议的观点。但是在这种形式下，并没有给读者提供太多的信息，听起来只是在陈述一个观点，这个观点可能有证据支持，也可能没有。
